I've got it and I love it.

I guess you could wait and see what Asus puts out. But realistically, the only way the monitor can really get any better is if it had HDMI/DP/DVI inputs and built in speakers. Oh and a matte bezel.

But really..who cares about crappy speakers and more inputs

Do you have an Nvidia graphics card that can drive games in 1440p with more than 60 fps?

If so, go for it. This would be the perfect timing.

For example, I can't think of a better monitor for my GTX 980 (single):

  • Its brand-new and the first 1440p 144Hz G-Sync IPS monitor and it really has a great panel, concerning viewing angles and colors. So that's already the first big unique selling point.
  • And the current generation of games is destined for this resolution and this refresh rate:
  • For example, games like Dying Light or Far Cry 4 will run perfectly in 1440p on Ultra, with frame rates between 50-100 fps. So the overall experience with G-Sync is great.
  • Also, there are the older games like CS:GO and in my case, Titanfall (both extremely fast-paced first-person shooters) which take great advantage of the capability to run with 144 fps.

I just got this monitor yesterday and I use a GTX 980. It's beautiful, I was playing bioshock infinite last night and it's so so pretty all the colors pop and it's so smooth. It has a little back light bleeding on the bottom right and one dead pixel but overall it's absolutely worth the money. I played GTA5 as well and it's as smooth as butter at max settings with gsync.

If dead pixel, get a replacement.

I'll live with it, it's so minor the only time I noticed is when I went hunting for it. In games and movies so far I don't notice it.

yeah but at this pricepoint you deserve a flawless monitor.

It's not like acer won't honor their warranty. Unless yours just fell off the back of a truck, I'd go for it

hey, do you still have the cardboard box? I'm probably getting the XB270Hb (not XB270HU) and I'll be taking it home with me in the checked baggage, so I'm looking for the cardboard box dimensions and i can't find them. Can you help?
