I'm in the process of overclocking my 4770k and I am wondering a few things I cant seem to find on google.

The first is cpu throttling.

If during the stress test the cpu is around 75-80c and then has a 100 spike aida64 calls the throttling (2%). Since it spiked up and then went back down is it a failed overclock?

Also how important is the cache ratio?

I am running 4.6GHz @ 1.232V with cache at 3.9GHz. If i put it on 40x then the system becomes unstable about 8 minutes into the aida64 stress test.

edit: Is it worth overclocking the igpu in the time i'll be using it and then return it to stock when I get my dedicated card?

edit: system specs in the spoiler tag of my signature.

I wouldn't touch the i-GPU.

The cache ratio I'm really not sure but what CPU cooler do you have, Haswell uses the same shit thermal paste as Ivy Bridge so they naturally run hotter than Sandy Bridge.

I'm no OC'ing expert but what I would do is knock it down to 4.5GHz and see if it runs stable

I would say increase the voltage slightly but since you're already running at those temps I don't think you'd be able to, one of the reasons why I'm sticking with Sandy Bridge for as long as possible.

There's only a few variables you have to adjust with Haswell. I'll post a video with JJ showing how to easily overclock.

EDIT: What motherboard do you have?

interesting video, kinda surprised i missed it since im subbed to the channel lol. I'll give the other settings a try as i didn't touch them all. I'll have to apply them later as a storm rolled up and don't want to lose power randomly in the process.
