1. Budget & Location

Budget is around 1500-2000$CAD

2. Aim

I'm mainly going to game on this computer. I want to be able to play games like BF4 at high settings with at least 100fps. I also do some video editing.

3. Monitors

ATM I'll only be using 1 monitor but will probably upgrade to 2 or even 3 monitors after i get everything. As for resolution they'll probably be 1600x900.

4. Peripherals

No peripherals needed. For OS which would be better. 7 or 8

5. Why are you upgrading?

I need a new computer.

I would suggest:

CPU: Intel i7 4770k

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i

Motherboard: MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming

Ram: Corsair Dominator Platinum 8GB x2

SSD: Samsung 840 120GB

Hard Drive :WD 2TB Black

Power Supply: Corsair HX850

Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 7970

Case: Corsair 650D

Optical drives are a bit useless but if you need one you can pick one up cheap,

I would go with Windows 8 pretty nice OS, once you get used the UI that is, It didn't take long for me to get used to it.

I chose the CPU and 16GB's of ram because you said you wanted to do video editing which in that area more performance and more ram is better !

The case is personal preference, If you don't like it just look for a different one, If you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask.

Hope it helps

Nathan

Here you go: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/1fDu1

It's crossfire ready. I added in a 1080p IPS display because it should be essential to video editing to have some good color reproduction and a monitor with decent resolution for proper playback.

The i7-4770K is nearly a 50% cost increase over the i5-4670K.  They both perform the same in gaming.  The i7 does give some amount of benefit in video editing, but the i5-4670K is very powerful in its own right, and unless you do video editing all the time as a profession, with deadlines, and you need every minute of rendering time, I would say the extra $100 for the i7 is not worth it at all.  It seems to be a thing with this forum that whenever people see the words "video editing" they immediately recommend the i7 no matter how heavy or casual the usage is...

He had said he wanted to use it also for editing so I had found the best in performance in video editing and gaming, I understand where you are coming from but we were given a price point and still met it while using a 4770K even though it is $100 more.

Another point is that it's nice to save money on a build where you can, and spend the money on Pho or nachos.
