Do cable extensions lower the power going into what they're plugged in to?

Man , don't buy cable extension even though your psu may not be fully modular... get some MDPC it's better and cheaper

It is modular, but dont want to do sleeving, what is MDPC?

This stuff.

Regarding the original question: The power going into a component really

shouldn't change. What could be slightly affected is the PSU's voltage

regulation due to the double wires (which are used for voltage sensing, which is

necessary for voltage regulation) stopping at the input for the extension (ideally

you would want to measure the voltage at the contact point with the M/B, not at the

contact with the input side of the extension). But this effect should be minimal

and negligible.

Bottom line: As mvitkun said, as long as the extensions are of good quality there

won't be a problem. There are so many people using extensions that we would have

heard about it by now if there was a large-scale problem with the concept.

EDIT:: Just as a side note: I wouldn't recommend running extensions for extreme

overclocking because for that those tiny differences in voltages actually may

become relevant. But I highly doubt that that is your usage scenario. ;)

only using  8 pin and 24 pin extensions, they're both made by silverstone tek

Considering Silverstone's usual quality I think you have nothing to worry

about then. The voltage sense thing should be negligible unless you have

very high currents running through those double wires on the 24 pin.
