Hey guys,

This is my first post on this forum but Linus continually goes on about what a great community they have on here so I thought I'd pop in! :) I am lets say a pretty novice PC builder, I helped build my own PC about 5 years ago and I've only just recently started to upgrade it. Now I was wondering which MOBO would you guys say is better please.

Now normally I've always had an Asus motherboard, currently my one is the P8H67-M PRO and I also have a Asus GTX 980 graphics card. So as you guys can clearly see I have more Asus products, however I'm not a fan boy, It's just always worked for me so I've never felt the need to change, but I've heard such great things about the MSI brand as a whole.

Please help guys! :)

Thanks in advance!

I would take the PRO Gamer, because it is more reliable, but for value I would get the Gaming 5.

My current build - Ever Changing.

Number 1 On LTT LGA 1150 CPU Cinebench R15

Equivalent boards, i'd pick the cheapest personaly.

| CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v  Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING  CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 |
| GPU: MSI RTX 3080Ti Ventus 3X OC  RAM: 32GB T-Force Delta RGB 3066mhz |
| Displays: Acer Predator XB270HU 1440p Gsync 144hz IPS Gaming monitor | Oculus Quest 3 VR

I'd say go for the MSI but honestly just because I've had several MSI boards including the Z87 GD65 and Z97 Gaming 3 and currently Z97 Gaming 7 and never had any issue. The MSI seems to have more SATA ports too but you may never need them.

I'm sure either will get the job done and if you're more familiar with Asus then go for the Asus. The fact that it's also £15 cheaper is just another point in it's favour

Nah I wouldn't worry about that, it won't make any difference whatsoever. Good choice of CPU btw, but would it be possible to get a 4690k? I think they're roughly the same price.

Might even be able to get one with the money saved by going with the Asus, if you choose the Asus that is

No worries :)  and just because the 4690k is clocked slightly higher out of the box. You could easily match the stock performance with the 4670k and just as easily surpass it with a mild overclock but in case you didn't want to bother with overclocking straight away, the other one would give you *very slightly* better performance
