Hello forum,

It's been a while since I have posted on these forums, mainly because of University studies and lack of money to buy PC parts, but I wanted to share my new build plan which is being built today (11/04/2015). I bought my parts yesterday and I am waiting for them to arrive. Now I have been a PC gamer for 4 years now, and well my GPU has served me well, but it's time for an upgrade.

Currently I have a:

i5-3570k

GTX 650 TI Boost 2GB

12GB DDR3 Corsair RAM

Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z77 motherboard

Corsair TX650W PSU

60GB Windows boot SSD

1TB HDD

Peripherals Include:

Corsair Vengeance K70 Cherry MX Red

Corsair Raptor M45 5000 DPI Optical Mouse

Corsair H1500 7.1 Surround Gaming Headset

Now I decided to upgrade to the following parts:

i7-4790k

GTX 970 "4GB" Strix

Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5

Corsair Carbide Series 300R Windowed case

Corsair Air Series SP120 Red LED fans (pack of 2)

I cannot wait to put this build together, with a black and red theme to my gaming rig, I have missed out on ultra gaming for quite some time and it will be great to play those new games for hopefully 4-5 years. Now the reason im posting this is because im going to be placing photos from the finished rig up on the forum hopefully later on in the day (fingers crossed no issues). But this is my first ever custom built PC which I have build and put together, my current rig was pieced together thanks to my friends, so it will be a fun experience I hope.

I also will be investing in a CPU cooler later on in the month, my budget ran low so that will be the next part, I sense a H100i will be my chosen cooler.

Thanks for checking out this post, I don't post often so sorry about my format of this post. I will post a link to the build rig later today.

Why did you put this post on this forum? It is much better off in the "Build Logs" forum.

When it comes to forums I never quite post the correct content in the correct forum, I get mixed up like that. I guess I thought I would post the pictures and such in the build logs but this for the planning stages to share my current build etc.

All you needed was the GTX 970, the upgrade to the Haswell was unnecessary for gaming.  At least you can stream 1080p/60fps and have extra threads for video/audio encoding now :) .

I was just getting the GTX 970 but my case was too small for it, so I thought "I may aswell go for a full upgrade" besides im a film student so editing wise it's great for me, so that hyper-threading will be very useful  :)
