ASUS STRIX PRO Gaming Headset

Hi.

I'm thinking about buying a new headset, specifically the ASUS STRIX PRO Gaming Headset.

I saw it in a store and it looks really cool and very comfortable.

I have  the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 and I love the sound quality, but they can be a little bit uncomfortable to me. I have a big head and wear glasses, so it really presses a little bit too much and it's hard to quite fit the ear cups so that they won't press too much my glasses' frame and my ears agains't it. Those large ear cups of Strix was what called my attention first.

The included microphone also called my attention, as I'm starting to game a little bit more online (I was a single-player gamer since ever, with no intention to play online except Battlefield 4 a year ago and now Arma 3 and soon the GTAV).

I got a cheap microphone to clip to my shirt, but I'm always loosing it or get annoyed with the cable.

Anyway, I'm seriously thinking about buying a headset and relegate the M50 to music hearing and video editing.

How's the sound quality of STRIX PRO? If you know both M50 and Strix, how do they compare?

Also, is there anything I should know about this headset (build quality, sound problems, comfort, etc)?

One more question (I think it's not necessary to create a separate topic), I think there's external sound cards you can use to plug more than a headset/headphones and use as an amplifier (DAC?). What would you recommend me? My Asus Xonar DX is broken and it's already been almost a year I've been using my motherboard's sound, which is nice enough, but...

Are you talking about the sound quality, build quality, comfort or design? Please, elaborate so that I can understand and make an informed decision.

Just remember that comfort is one of my first priorities. STRIX really grabbed my attention with those big earcups that look really comfortable.

I don't know the Clouds (or almost any other headset), so just saying that is better or worse than headset X or Y will leave me knowing the same about STRIX: 0.

The one thing to keep in mind is that just about every "gaming headset" on the market has had more money going into their marketing material than product development. They are often highly inferior to similarly priced headphones, focusing more on amount of features than on quality overall. Before the release of the Cloud, we recommended separate headphones and mic.

The Cloud is a rebranding of the QPAD QH-90, which is itself a slight redesign of a known good OEM headphone (Gemini DJ HSR-1000 or Takstar Pro80). It has much better build quality than any other gaming headset I've heard about, reportedly is rather comfortable, sounds pretty good, and the accessory package is one of the best I've seen.
