BOINC vs Folding?

Honestly, I'm kinda new to this whole folding thing, but I do have a build planned for a folding rig. But I then heard about BOINC. What are the differences between the two and what are they both exactly, which should I do if I'm forced to choose?

Collecting every single CPU in existence? Is it possible? I have no idea, but i'm sure gonna try! http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/341848-dont-throw-away-old-cpus-im-collecting/

Folding is specifically for simulating proteins for medical research, whereas BOINC is more open, and has many goals you can choose to dedicate your processing power to

So if I were to build a rig that is good for folding. (I'll be doing a mini itx machine with a r9 295x2 in my HAF Stacker 915F case) it should also be good for BOINC? Right? Or is it more complicated then that?

You'd need to make sure the project you choose supports AMD GPUs, but apart from that there's not much difference AFAIK

Perfect. Sounds like a good idea to do both then. I'll have to make sure that I get both of them installed when the rig is done. Maybie another rig in the future... Hmmm
