Hi guys,

It's that time of year when I think about upgrading my system, and this year I am planning on moving away from my AM3+ system and moving to X99. I am looking around for deals etc and have come across this ram and mobo bundle for a reasonable price, while the ram isn't the like of Corsair of Kingston, how wrong can ram really go?

What do you guys think of this?

Not a bad price at all (from my perspective). Not sure on exact values cause I've been out of the UK for 4 years but put it this way... I'm looking at the equivalent of 500 pounds for that mobo and some ddr4. I don't think ram really can go wrong per se so I'd go with that.

You cant go too wrong with ram, just dont overpay for crazy fast speeds (although the link you provided shows no signs of that)..also are you looking for anything specific in your x99 board (dual bios, integrated watercooling inputs and outputs, lighted i/o, etc.?)

Is that really the going price in NZ? The bundle without the cpu comes to just under £250, Amazon have the i7 5820k for £315 at the moment, so the upgrade should cost just shy of £570 when including shipping

Good to hear, I've only ever had issues with a R9 290's memory, but that was apparently a common issue. As for DIMM I have only ever used branded ram. As for the board I am not really looking for anything too special, quite a few USB headers on the Rear I/O, enough PCI slots for my GPUs and Firewire card, and the option to overclock a bit.

That same hardware is almost ~$1400 NZD.

Wow... Now I feel lucky to be from the UK!
