Hey everyone.

I've done some research and tried a few different ways, but no luck.

Here's my problem... I'm simply trying to switch from wireless to wired (Ethernet) connection on my new PC.

The PC recognizes the wireless connection no problem, but when trying to connect to the Ethernet cable it doesn't seem to register that it's plugged in. I've gone to the Network and Sharing section in Control Panel, and all I can find is topics relating to wireless. I've tried going into the adapter settings, but no Local Area Network setting. I've looked through starting a new network but everything is for wireless. I feel like I'm missing something, but not sure where. I'm new to PC building and working with them all together, but it's become quite addicting learning about it. The websites I looked up helped me diagnose a little, but nothing to actually get my through 100%.

Any questions I'll be happy to answer to the best of my ability.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

Things that could be wrong

- Drivers

- Cable is broken

- Adapter settings -> LAN disabled

- Physical defect in equipment, need extra equipment which is known to work to verify.

- MAC of Ether is blacklisted, so all traffic would be dropped including packets Windows sends to dictate whether something is connection

Was a driver issue, went to device management and saw the Network Adapters has exclamation points. Couldn't find updated drivers through the right click option, but seemed to do the trick with the Motherboard driver disk.

Thanks for the help Darren.
