I have a nzxt h440, i5-4690k, asus strix gtx 970. And if was wondering what I should do.... I could go the route of dual aios with the kraken g10 which would include a g10, h50/H55 or similar priced 120mm aio, for the cpu, a Enermax liqtech 240 or similar priced 240mm aio. The 120 would be at the back ad exhaust, with the cpu aio in the top as intake plus the 3 120mm fans in the front as intake. So 5 120mm intakes and 1 120mm as exhaust. Due to poor airflow this would be the best setup to have positive air pressure.... the would cost me about 200$ plus tax. Or I could go the custom loop with a 360mm rad or another config. Plus a gpu block, cpu block, pump, res, fittings, tubing etc which would cost me about 450-500$ plus tax.... which would be the better option ?

the better option is full loop the more convenient and cheaper and easier/safer option is closed loop but I would suggest higher quality CLCs

honestly air is enough

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

ik air is enough but my room is in the front of my house where the sin is always hitting so it makes my room the hottest room in the house by quite a bit. My cpu idles around 30-35 degrees and under load it's in the high 60 degree range and my gpu is around 75 degrees at 50-60% fan speed under load. And that's in the winter.... my first plan before going to water is to put a 90/120 mm fan in front of the gpu blowing air at it to try and get Temps down but if that doesn't work I might be going to water

edit: srry Faceman thought you were talking about custom loop.... I've already talked about dual aios with you before and it's a compelling option but I'm still thinking about going custom but I really don't know anymore

that is normal...

compared to my friends setup with same components it's a pretty big differance in gpu Temps. In valley it takes 2-3 scenes for my gpu to hit 66 degrees and he fans turn on... but my friend can go through almost the whole benchmark staying under or at 60 degrees

No worries, yea I know we have spoken before, just wanted to show you that link again.  It will probably be closer to $250 Canadian to get it done properly.

Ya and plus with the 970 I'm going to have to mount the fan on the oposite side of the g10 since the vrms are near the i/o and not at the front where the fan is normally

Yup, hence the $250 estimate price.

Just using some estimates via PcP.  There are less expensive parts available, but wanted to give you a rough idea

Cooler Master Nepton 240M for CPU - $115

Corsair H55 - $70

NZXT G10 Bracket - $50

Extras will probably cost another $20-$50.  I don't know pricing on those extras in CA.

using a Thermaltake water 2.0 performer and a nepton 240m it will cost 250$ including tax. What else would I need ? That would cost that extra 20-50$ ?

If you can afford it the custom loop will be better as it's expandable performs better and looks better. I've used the G10 bracket before and they sag your gpu's a lot.

No, your card actually comes with built in heatsinks.

What you will need is a PCI Fan bracket so that you can mount a fan beneath the VRMs on the left hand side of your card.

it's weird though.. the cooler doesn't even touch anything except the gpu itself. The vrm do have a black heat sink on it but it doesn't touch the cooler and the vram is just sitting there with no cooling at all

It sagged my 970 with it on more than the stock cooler but if your card has a backplate that will help reduce sag my 970 didn't so it did sag a bit.

I have a backplate but my gpu already sags quite a bit and I'm not really liking it. I'm thinking of how to fix it... my idea is to get some custom cables and run it straight down then get a piece of wood dowel and hide it behind the cables so you don't see it while it t holding the end of the card up
