The motherboard is faulty: the graphics chip doesn't work

Hi all,

I have just bought some computer components and when i assemble the computer and start it up, no picture is displayed to my monitor.

I know that the system is working as the CPU fan is spinning along with the power supply fan and my panel fan.

I have no OS loaded and I should be able to enter the BIOS screen (or am I wrong?)

Here is a list of my components and thanks for the help :)

MSI B85M-P33 V2 (Motherboard)

Crucial Ballistix 2 x 4GB (RAM)

Intel i3 4130 (Processor)

WD Green 1TB (Storage)

Benq DL2215 LED (Monitor)

Coolink MPT-5012P (PSU)

Many thanks again,

Andy Stanton

Couple things.

- Make sure the monitor is on

- Make sure the monitor has the correct input set as its source

- Make sure the 4 pin CPU power is plugged in.

Yes, on the first boot and any boot after that you are supposed to be able to enter the bios screen.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

Those components should work together just fine. Did you check all of your connections. If no display is popping up and you correctly installed everything then there's something wrong. You should be able to boot into your bios without any OS installed so that's not the issue.

Case: Corsair 760T White PSU: Corsair AX1200i Motherboard: Asus Maximus VII Formula CPU: I7-4790k Cooler: Stock Cooler Ram: Corsair Vengeance 16GB 2400mhz GPU: Asus Strix GTX 970

Smart suggestion KDub! Make sure that the 4 pin Power Cable used to power your processor is connected to your motherboard. Its usually in the top left area of the motherboard.

Thanks for the feedback everyone,

After reassembling my PC 3 times with no change to the problem, I am beginning to think that the power supply is faulty.

Do you think that this is a plausible explanation?

Many thanks,
