So I am getting my i7 4790k next week and am thinking of getting a cross-fire set up due to the cheap seperate prices of graphic cards. So I can get a R9 290 for around 140-50 pounds but am wondering what other cards I can crossfire a 290 with? Not just another 290. Also, would you recommend two graphic cards such as the GTX 670 in SLI or the 7950's in CF rather than one 290? Because I can do that.

2 290x's. Better performance for not a lot more (where I live)

“When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons, what the hell am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man who’s gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I’m gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!”

If you care about PhysX in games you know which route to go.  Thing is you really didn't state much in your post about what you are using this pc for.  What resolution are you going to be playing in?  Are you looking to have this purchase be something that will last you some significant amount of time in the future?  What games are you going to play?

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

I play at 1080P on a 24" Monitor, I am going to use it for rendering, editing, MAINLY gaming and yes I'd like it to last long and i'm going to be playing H1Z1, Arma 3, GTA V, and more games that require high components.

I think most are going to recommend an R9 290 Crossfire setup.  Heck one R9 290 is as good as GTX 670 SLI in many instances.  Also if you move to higher resolutions having room to add another R9 290 if you only start with one is the best choice.
