Hi, I've done some research on Gaming builds, I'm still pretty noobish when it comes to this so can you correct the build if I have made a mistake somewhere.

Basically I wanted to build a gaming rig that can run 4k games doesn't have to be the max settings it can be low settings, I just want it to where it wont lag (I wont be playing console games like Call of duty or Battle Field, I will be playing games like World of Warcraft, Diablo, Star-craft, Pso2, Gmod). I really don't think I will be editing or streaming anything. I'm going to be playing on that monitor that you see in the build. Of course I don't have like thousands of dollars to spend on a PC so I don't want any "extra" stuff. (Ex: 1000 TB SDD, or 3 or 4 Titans) I also wanted to make it to where I don't have to upgrade for a while and it will last a long time (like over 3 years).

This is what I came up with.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/WmgjCJ

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is what I have read on the internet.

CPU- I've heard you don't need many cores to play games. I was going to go with the AMD FX-6350 3.9GHz 6-Core Processor but then I saw the FX-8350 for about $40 more then I thought its not a lot of money to spend and it gives you 8 cores and higher clock speed.

CPU cooler- at first I was thinking about the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler but then I thought if this is going to last me a while I would need this PC to have low temps so I went with the Cooler Master Nepton 240M 76.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler.

Motherboard- I pretty much don't know what motherboard to buy so I watched this video from Linus

I used that motherboard for this build MSI 970 GAMING ATX AM3+ Motherboard. I saw that it can run SLI so I thought to myself if I wanted to buy a 2nd graphics card in the future I can just slap it on and it will work.

Ram- For video games 8GB is pretty much all you need. From linus's video I was going to use the AMD R9 Gamer Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2400 Memory but it was EXPENSIVE. So i searched and for $100 cheaper I went with the

Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2400 Memory. I was going to do 8GB but for like $30 more to get a 16GB I thought that wasn't a bad deal. From what I heard ram speeds are not a lot different from one another in terms of frames getting. But I think the 2400 might be better then a 8Gb 1600 whatever Ram. Oh and yes I do know that majority if people want to edit or stream they would need about 16GB.

Storage- For starters I need a lot of storage. 1TB isn't enough for me. I download pretty much every day, and new games now a days take like 40-50gb. At first I was thinking I don't need a SSD the computer is plenty fast already. But then I searched and I found a cheap SSD so I thought if I will have this build for a while without upgrades might as well buy it and install Windows or other software that I want loading quickly. The SSD is a Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive, and my Hard drive is a Western Digital BLACK SERIES 4TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive. I wasn't to sure at first about the hard drive. I've looked at builds after builds and they use either the red or blue Western Digital. When I look at prices though there like 100-200 dollars cheaper or more expensive. I looked at what the difference between the different color drives are. And I thought well the black series is the best storage for all files. Another reason I went with this hard drive was the RPM. The 5400 RPM I thought might be slow so I wanted the fastest hard drive that I can buy without spending $500 dollars on a hard drive. 7200 RPM Black series hard drive seemed to be the best choice.

Video Card- On the Linus video I posted it had a Sapphire Radeon R9 285 2GB ITX COMPACT OC Video Card I was thinking that's not going to last me a while I pretty much put the most of my money to the card and went with a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 4GB WINDFORCE Video Card. It's the best card and not over a $1000 like the titans. It can run 4k but I don't know at what settings it can run at. It's quiet, and the fans keep it cooled. It's got 1.23 GHz of core clock which I don't know specifically if that is good or not. It can support SLI so if I had extra cash and wanted to add another one of these in the future I can.

Case- I stuck with the same case that was in the video, a NZXT S340 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case. I don't need a full tower case. I'm not going to get all the extra stuff. If I plan on doing something like that I will build a new PC from scratch. This has the see through panel on the side which I like, has enough internal bays for my hard drives, it has enough space to put in the long graphics card, and its solid black which I like that color.

Power Supply-  In the video the power supply was not enough, it also said it on the Pcpartpicker SeaSonic 400W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply.  The power supply I went with is a Corsair RM 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply. From what I heard its quiet, it has enough watts for my build (which is 421) and if I wanted to add another graphics card it will be able to support that (which is 586 Watts). Its Modular so I can take off any cables I don't need. And Corsair that brand makes good power supply's.

Operating System- Yes I know in the build its a Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro - 64-bit (OEM) (64-bit), I don't need the Pro I would rather get the regular cheap one that is if I was buying it. I'm actually getting this OS from a friend. So I don't need to worry about the OS.

Monitor- Of course I want to play at 4k and I don't want to fork out $1000 for a monitor. So I went with the  Samsung U28D590D 60Hz 28.0" Monitor. This is a very nice monitor, its 28 inches and I don't want a big monitor, the Contrast ratio 1000:1, Response time I've heard anything that's 6ms or lower is good and this has 1ms, 60 Hz of refresh rate. Doesn't have build in speakers and I don't need those because I game with headphones, and has enough Display ports/HDMI outputs. It's also very thin.

So how is this build, will it last me a while? Is there any problems with this build? Please comment before I go and build it thank you.

Okay a couple of questions 1. How is that processor better then the AMD 8 core. this is just what I heard having more cores and more GHz speed is good right? That processor only have 3.3 Ghz speed and has 4 cores and no hyper threading.

2. when you look at the incompatibilities it gives you this message

The Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2400 Memory operating voltage of 1.65V exceeds the Intel Haswell Refresh CPU recommended maximum of 1.5V+5% (1.575V). This memory module may run at a reduced clock rate to meet the 1.5V voltage recommendation, or may require running at a voltage greater than the Intel recommended maximum.

amd single core performance is bad, intel has way better single core performance

And yes I have actually seen this processor in a lot of builds but I never knew what was so good about it. What specs make this processor better then the rest?

I see in the video. Just wandering though. In the video basically its telling me Intel has a faster speed. But the temps are at 70 degrees. For AMD with the over clock is 55 degrees. And its cheaper the only downfall for AMD is speed.

So basically AMD is for something that you don't have all of money of and Intel is if your looking for performance.

that proves intel i5 and intel i7 are far more superior than the amd flag ship cpus

If I'm going with the Intel should I get different Ram? Because there seems to be a issue when I put that CPU on. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/TZzLnQ

And can any of this Overclock? Just wandering

ya kind of but he has a better cooling unit in the amd card amd cards are know to run hot

AMD FX-6350 3.9GHz 6-Core Processor is the only amd cpu i recommend over intel(Pentium and lower end i3)

intel has just stolen the market in gaming rendering graphic editing  (the budget section like apu and 6000 4000 series are the bang for the buk in amd)

trust me the ram is overkill just get a 1866 frequency ram

more than enough even 8gb is more than enough dont spend more than 80$ on ram
