this is confusing :D would a coolmaster red 120mm fan be ok on the 212 evo as it looks exactly the same as my brother already has a spare

it would. If temps increase or you dont like it just change it back.

Get the high static pressure ones and you should be fine.

I'm guessing he's talking about the Corsair SP (Static Pressure) fans. I don't think there are any quiet edition SP fans with leds but there are for fans without leds. SP fans are usually better for CPU coolers and radiators than AF (Airflow) fans since they tend to push more air in exchange for being a little louder.

SP fans are usually better for CPU coolers and radiators than AF (Airflow) fans since they tend to push more air in exchange for being a little louder.

AF120's are better than SP120's on 212 Evo due to the heatsink not being dense enough to benefit that much from the static pressure.

The fan could work but it wouldn't perform as well as the stock fan unless it was a Jetflo which wouldn't be quiet.
