Hi all,

so I'm planning to upgrade my pc soon, note: I"m on a budget of MAX € 450 but I'm not sure which of the 2 following builds will fit my needs.

I play games on ocasion (soon GTA 5) and I need to run some Virtual machines sometimes.

I already have 16 GB DDR3 1333Mhz and a HD 7950 Boost.

Build 1:

  • i5 -4690
  • Gigabyte G1 Sniper H6

Total price = € 356.90

Build 2:

  • i5-4690K
  • Cooler Master 120 v
  • Gigabyte Z97x-SLI

Total price = € 448,90

Will the exta € 90 be worth it?

Few extra notes:

  • Intel Xeon is too expensive here in belgium so no 1231 v3 or w/e.
  • I've looked into the Cooler Master Evo 212 but it doesn't fit in my case.
  • I want to use my pc for at least 2-4 years.
  • The only reason why I would want to OC is if the CPU starts to fall behind I'll OC it to 4.4-4.6Ghz

In gaming the OC will help, but if you are going to run virtual machines i would recommend an i7 because it has hyperthreading. You could go with an H97 mobo and the i7 you can afford. Also if you need a cooler I would recommend the Be Quiet Pure Rock because it performs as well as the 212 EVO and it is dead silent.

About the Virtual machines: I study ICT and the VM's are just for testing. In Windows 2012 R2 server we just configure some stuff, do some trusts etc. It's not that 10 users need to be logged on at the same time etc. The VM's are just for studying the OS and testing

About the Be quiet cooler: the max height of the cooler is 14cm to fit in my case so.
