Hey

I want to get a power bar with a batery so that when I loose the electricity my PC doesn't turn off right away.

Where can I find that? I've seen a few but it seems expensive. And how does the wattage work. If I have a 650W PSU means I should get a 650W powerbar???

anywhere from 10 minutes on max load to hour at idle

a little more just in case your pc is under full load when it goes out

Depending what your doing will depend on how long the battery last

you can connect to your pc so when it gets low on battery your pc will shutdown/standby

this one more powerful  http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=SMT1500&tab=models

yeah, an APC or Cyberpower unit, 1k VA+ will be best for a higher-performance gaming rig and a monitor or two.

And remember, the purpose isnt to have it last forever.... they will run for as long as needed for your system to shut down.

You ever tried the auto shutdown feature,

like laptops have? i have an older apc, idunno if newer ones work same way, you plug the apc into you pc via usb, and configure so at like 10-15% it auto shutdowns/standby

Yup! works the same way still. Unfortunately they rip you off by STILL not having multiple computer support, except for Enterprise units.

Yeah, I was just disspointed that I couldn't run both my desktop and small NAS off one. So, I installed a program on a mini atom computer that sends network signals to the two computers to shut them down. And then that atom + internet modem + router can run for a few hours if needed.

But if my computer is estimated to use around 350W (PcPartPicker) but that I have a 650W PSU can I still get something around 400W UPS?

I've just spent close to 2500$ to build that rig and I don't really want to spend another 200$ just for that ^^

thats sweet, i muted them as well cause having 4 of these beeping everytime it checks the battery or power goes out would drive me insane

and having 1 to all of those shorted use time on battery, plus my router is on the op-piste side of my house so that would not work at all lol

What you're looking for is a UPS.  Be aware that good ones are very expensive and they will also require swapping the battery banks every 5-10 years (depending on what model you get).

Honestly you probably don't need it unless your power is going down all the time.
