I have just ordered a new CPU fan(arctic freezer 13 co) and it comes with pre applied thermal compound/paste and my pc currently has the stock cooler on i . What I need to know is whether I need to remove the thermal compound/paste from my CPU before putting my new fan on or can I just leave it on there? Thanks for any replies in advance :)

Remove existing thermal compound and then apply the cooler you just recieved.

Use alcohol and a lint-free pad/swab/whatever.
