Radio wierdness. Hearing a radio station from another country?

Right. On to the actual topic
As i was driving home from gothenburg on route 45 towards Trollhattan my radio suddenly switched stations.
Usually there's nothing wierd about it ('tis an old radio from 1991)
But this time i was shocked to hear "Minnesota public radio" coming through my speakers in SWEDEN

I've managed to pick up polish radio in southern sweden before but this was a bit much XD
 

So the question i wanted to ask with this post is:
Have you ever managed to tune into a radio station that you weren't expecting?
(And what kind of MEGA transmitter are they using in minnesota? XD)

i had it before with my speakers of my computer, if i turned the volume up the radio signal became even louder, at one time it was so bad, i couldn't even here the porn :S

My cousin has that problem aswell. And it always happens at midnight for some reason :S

it's reaaly weird and annoying, especially when you can't understand what the fuck they are saying, there is never music, always talking....

They don't need to be using a huge transmitter, depending on what radio waves they are using the waves bounce off the earth and then atmosphere and so on this can cause a wave to travel all the way around the world, I've tuned in to stations in China and Afghanistan before from the UK

I cant get the radio station from downtown in my bathroom... I think there is a difference of technology here

Glad I could help mate, can't remember which wave type it is either HF, VHF or UHF believe it's the first, it has a lower frequency than the others but a higher wavelength

It's not VHF.

Yeah like I said I'm pretty sure it's HF
