Hey guys. New to the forum here.

I'm trying to fix a deadzone in my house for my brother. I have a little bit of experiencing through troubleshooting my own network and stuff, but not the greatest at this stuff.

I would like to setup a LAN-to-LAN network using 2 routers.

Our main router and modem is located in the basement (not the most optimal place I know). We are using the one provided by Bell. The signal isn't quite reaching all the way upstairs, so we have run an Ethernet cable all the way to the second floor. I have connected a router upstairs to this Ethernet cable and it is working properly. (The Ethernet cable is plugged into the WAN port)

However, I've heard of a way to be able to setup a LAN-to-LAN network instead of a LAN-to-WAN one. I would like to do this, because this would allow us to only connect using one network and also be able to share the printers that are located downstairs. I've tried to do this in the past by plugging it into the LAN port and disabling DHCP on the second router, but after doing this, there's no Internet access. I've also tried using a different router, however the same problem persists.

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. I hope this all makes sense....

You'll could set up network bridging. Another thing you could try is to instead just disabling DHCP check that the gateway of the 2nd router is the IP of router 1, this will make the 2nd router act as a switch (a more in depth article can be found here)
