Notice: I am extremely bad with networking and have only a very limited knowledge of it.

I Also live in Australia, the land of the great shitty INTERNET (this maybe the cause)

I ask the questions below, because this is only a recent event. Before a few weeks ago, i didn't really have any issues.

I have already replaced my router (it was only anyway so i really needed a new one)

Gday Guys,

So i have noticed i can no longer stream twitch/Vimeo/Youtube (watching the stream) without lag. I downloaded Netlimiter 4 and it shows my DL Rate for my web browser (opera) going from one extreme to another, it never seems to sit at a constant rate when I'm trying to stream something, thus (i assume) i keep getting a laggy stream. However if i download something (like a torrent or file) my connection is generally pretty good and steady. It will fluctuate between 10-50 KB/s but nothing drastic.

As stated above, this wasn't an issue a few weeks/month ago. I have only started to notice the decline in the ability to stream lately.

I have looked into IP address blocking that apparently helped for twitch a year or so ago, but that didn't seem to work. I also have no idea why IP Address blocking would work or how, i just googled and followed dem posts like a sheep.

I have also tried an app called LiveStreamer that works in conjunction with VLC, and apparently is meant to fix laggy streams INSTANTLY! but this also has the same issue as streaming directly through my browser.

At any rate, is there anything i can do on my end to get a better, steadier stream........................yeah that sounded right.

Can i change something in my router mayhap? install something? Wave my wand or sacrifice a lamb to Gabe Newell?

Anyway thankyou in advance.

Cheers

What do you use to test your net connection.

50KB/s seems realllly low to me.

Haha no no thats not my connection speed, i meant that it would sit at say 700-750KB/s thus fluctuating that 50KB/s
