I just crimped a cat5e cable and connected the ends to my PC and router. Upon connecting to the internet I was met with this error code. Error 651: The modem (or other connecting device has reported an error. I am running a clean install of Windows 8.1. I crimped the cables using Linus' tutorial on NCIX.

Your help is greatly appreciated, Matt

Sounds like you're trying to initiate a PPPoE connection or something, which is exactly what you shouldn't be doing if you have a router.

This is my first time crimping cables, I don't know if I'm even putting it in the correct order. Atm I have used Linus' color code on his tutorial on NCIX, I have also tried this color code http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=190180I used the one that says current. I'm using a Cat5e cable. My router is a Netgear CG3000v2 and my motherboard is a Gigabyte Z87 UD3H.
