$20 Bose

Go to solution Solved by NeverNotExhausted,

I hope I'm not anoying you. If I do sell it what speaker system would you recommend?

Not at all mate, happy to help.

The 5.1 market tends to either be cheapish gear or hella expensive gear so I would personally try steer you towards a 2.1 or 2.0 system.

These 3 are my go to's, I've had a great deal of experience with the Swan M10's and was really impressed, But the M20W's will fit into your 200-300 budget nicely and I've heard nothing but good things about them. http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=567_568&products_id=27731

If you do get abit of cash then the Swan M50W's are a nice step up too, http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=567_568&products_id=20186

The speakers I've had the most experience though are the Audioengine 2+ and they are amazing in my opinion, http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=567_602&products_id=25719, if you aren't a basshead then these will do on their own, but if you do get abit of extra coin from them Bose speakers you can add a S8 Sub to the system and make it a brilliant 2.1 setup. The amp is $400AUD though so this begins to hit nice 5.1 territory. Once you hit this price point you might be better served with a Swan 5.1 setup http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=567_569&products_id=29712

These are all Australian prices too so they will likely be much cheaper where ever you come from so you might need to do a bit of research into pricing in your area. But all those won't disappoint :)

Sorry for the lengthy and not well laid out reply :)

I found a center speaker, two directional cube speakers, two display/remote recivers, and a power supply for a bose lifestyle v20 system at goodwill for $20.

I want to upgrade my computer speakers so what would you guys recommend to buy?

My price range is $200-$300 and I really would like to have a 5.1 setup or higher.

If it's a functioning 5.1 system from bose for $20, grab it. Even if you don't end up using it you can sell it for a tidy profit on Craigslist/Gumtree to put towards your setup. People jump all over Bose gear.

Ya I already bought it now I just wan't to figure out on what to buy next. It needs a sub and this thing.

Got any pics of the unit you purchased and does it function by itself at the moment?

I just said what it needs, so no it can't really function by itself at the moment. I did get the two speakers working I just plugged in my receiver, but my receiver is total shit.

I'll get you a pic and I just want to know if it is worth buying more bose shit to get it to work or I should just sell it and buy a different speaker setup?

Sorry, I didn't know if 'need' meant it's more ideal to have that part or if it was a necessity.

I reckon if you can go on the hunt for a second hand one of them units then you could bundle it together and earn a tidy bit of profit from it. It might take you a little while to track it down but if you could even pick up one of the media centers for even half the price of the one you listed then your looking at a few hundred dollars cash out of it :)

Thank you for the help. So you think that bose is a waste of money? If so I said that I wanted to upgrade my computer speakers what should I do.

I was thing about using the speakers that I bought from goodwill.

Bose are quite nice, but they have that price premium for the brand name because people that aren't tech savvy believe they are the be all and end all. At least the people I know around Melbourne do.

If you can get all the kit you need on the cheap then keep them by all means, they will make an amazing sounding speaker setup for your rig. My advice on selling them is mainly based around the idea that if you can make a few hundred dollars on them you can buy a nice speaker setup for your rig and have it cost you pretty much nothing because the cost is offset by the profits you earned.
