Hello everyone, id like to get your opinion on a possible build I am planning to do

 

Ive never built a computer myself but I have been watching a lot of Linus' videos and it looks like a huge amount of fun so I thought id give it a try. 

 

Processor: i5 4690k

Motherboard: MSI z97 PC Mate 

PSU: Corsair CX750M

GPU: R9 280x (not sure which company yet)

RAM: 16gb G.SKILL Ares Series (2x8)

Storage: 256gb Samsung Evo SSD 1TB WD Blue

why 16gb?  Most games only using ~8 and if you want to do any serious video editing that would warrant 16gb+ ram, you'd probably want to get an i7

@russian1337 You're new here so please read the CoC

 

and use pcpartpicker next time

 

since it's your first time I wouldn't recommend a k-series cpu go with a non k-series

 

the psu can still be around 600w

 the RAM is overkill all you need is 8gb for gaming

that's about it

Looking good. But 8GB are usually enough for games nowadays. Unless you wanna do some light video editing or stuff like that, then 16GB and i5 should be good enough. All you need now is a case to put all those in. Unless you already have 1. :)
