making d drive into c drive

So when i was in call with Kingston tech support, the lady pointed out to me that windows can only boot to a drive that is the c drive, well right now my ssd is the drive, and i need to make it into the c drive.

 

so i know i can unassign a drive by clearing it, and i am fine with doing that for my ssd. but then i cannot format it in windows with out making it into the d drive, so how do i make it into the c drive outside of windows.

Try re-wording this to help clear things up.

such as SSD = D:/

and your HDD = C:/

 

and you want to change it so your;

HDD = X:/

and SSD = C:/

Hey Thebman712,
 
Disconnecting your HDD and connecting only your SSD would enable you to assign the letter C on the SSD. Having the HDD as C-drive indicates that you are booting from it. The letter C is reserved for the OS partition.
If you do a fresh install of the OS on the SSD, make sure the HDD is unplugged to avoid any conflicts. Changing the letter of the HDD might result in some problems and you might have to reinstall all your applications that are there. The rest of the data should be OK.
