So im having this problem where when i start my pc it spins up the cpu and gpu fans but the casefans don't turn on, allso it never shows up anything on my monitor (yeah it's on) and my mouse wich should light up does not light up. I make it start by turning off my psu and powering it back on, after that no problems it works flawless.

Some info you might need in helping me:

          -PSU Corsair cx600m

          -Mobo Asus z97-c

          -CPU i5 4690k

          -RAM 8gb HyperX venom

          -Samsung 850evo 500gb ssd

          -GPU Asus Strix 970 4gb

Btw this is the first pc i have ever built and i don't know lots of the stuff you might advice me to do so please explain with detail.

 Help would be much appreciated!!!

Hey JLakey,

So this happens when you cold boot your system and until you restart the PSU it won't boot? This could be a faulty PSU or a motherboard.
I would suggest to try booting it without anything external plugged in (external storage, mouse, keyboard, etc.) and see if it work fine. Also are there any beeping sounds coming from the motherboard when you try to boot it and it hangs?
I would also suggest reseating all cables and components on your motherboards and make sure everything is plugged firmly all the way.

Yeah it happens when its been a long time turned off turns on fine after 2 hours but if it has been longer off it just ramps up the fans and i see a led light up on the botherboard. I don't hear any beeping at all. Ill check the cables and try booting it whitout anything external tomorrow and ill let you know.

Thanks a lot of your effort towards my problem  :)

I looked around for similar problems with this motherboard and it turns out that most of the time the red light indicates problems with the RAM. Do make sure the memory sticks are placed correctly and all the way. Try running the system with only one and see if the problem persists.

So i checked the cables and made sure i had everything properly plugged in and looks like the problem was a loose 24pin cable, becuse of when i pushed down on it i heard a click sound. I have colbooted it  a couple of times now and seems to be working.

Huge thanks to your help even though the problem was so small i just simply could not have fixed it whitout your help. :D

Oh well booted it up today and same problem happened. LED looks like its from the ethernet port so the ram isn't a problem. Ill boot it whitout the external stuff plugged in.

Boot up without anything plugged in from outside the case (no mouse or keyboard, no external storage, no network cables) (except the power cable and the display cable). Remove all RAM, GPU and disable all fans except the one on the CPU, disable all storage drives (including the optical one) and boot your system with just the CPU and one stick of RAM installed to see if it brings BIOS on the screen. After that start adding parts to see which one is causing the problem. It could also be bad mounding of the motherboard on the case and thus shorting something.

Unplug all HDDs and SSDs, remove the GPU and use integrated graphics on the Motherboard. Try to boot, one stick of RAM at a time to make sure. If you have tested all the RAM in all of the RAM slots, you probably have a dead MOBO or (rarely) a CPU

Most common failure is RAM, and most companies have great warranty coverage on RAM

Taken from  Pjtruslow's post on New PC meltdown

CPU: Intel i7-4790K @ 4.7GHz --- RAM: Lenovo 1600MHz 16GB --- MOBO: Gigabyte Z97-G7 --- GPU: EVGA GTX 970 FTW ACX 2.0+--- PSU: Corsair CX600 --- Case: Corsair Air 540 --- Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61 --- OS: Windows 8.1 --- Monitor: 24" AOC G2460P + Dell 19" --- Mouse: Logitech MX Perfromance --- Keyboard: Corsair K70 (Cherry MX Brown) --- Audio: Sennheiser HD558

Don't buy a GTX 980, it's overpriced! Buy 2 GTX 970s or 2 R9 290s intstead (the R9 290s would even be cheaper)
