Gaming Rig

Mandrew

So I did some research(not knowing anything) and was able to come up with this http://pcpartpicker.com/p/hy47gs

I'm primarily going to be using it for mild editing/rendering and gaming

I'm not planning on overclocking

I'm unsure about the motherboard and PSU (i just chose the cheapest z97 mobo and the PSU looked good and was cheap)

not really willing to go over $1000

also how does it stack up against the $850 dollar version of this (besides pricing) http://www.dell.com/us/p/alienware-x51-r2/pd

EDIT:If i were to get an overclockable CPU would the extra money it cost be worth it performance wise?

Well 1. Without even looking at your partslist you don't want to skimp out on a PSU even though it doesn't feel like it it is very important though no one ever thinks about it when they think of pc parts.

  • Faster cpu, +400MHz
  • More memory slots on motherboard
  • SSD for much faster boot, program load, etc.
  • Much better gpu

  • Monitor included
