Setting up VM for pentesting

I wish to setup two VMs so I can have a attacker and a target, I want these systems completely removed from the internet so if I botch an attack it wont leak out of the environments. This will all be done on Virtualbox

My target systems will be Dam Vulnerable Linux and Windows XP as I know they are two that can easily be exploited.

 

Sorry for it being brief but I do not know much about this subject.
