I just bought G3258 because i wanted to try overclocking with Intel platform and because i only have little experience on AMD platform. So i followed guide Linus did (Devil´s canyon and Pentium G3258 Anniversary Edition overclocking guide). First time i boot to Windows it shows me that multiplier is from ?-45 (i tried 45 first) but CPU never goes over 3.2GHz and after i reboot CPUz shows multiplier to only 32

I tried AI Suite and im pretty unsure about results it went to 6.1GHz with 1.275V 64 Celcius and now CPUz shows that high multiplier is 59??

And i forgot to mention i stopped it at 6.1GHz it didn´t stop itself

It ended up failing results are 3200MHz and Core voltage 1.275 and max temp 64 Celcius

thats kinda high voltage for the CPU

reset everything and try wilh 1.2v as the start

Yeah i know but Linus said highest voltage suggested for Haswell is 1.3V but ill try again when i get back from work.

did you OC using the BIOS?

it sound like you are using Intel Xtreme Tuning software

I used BIOS after my several attempts on software based overclocking with AsRock 970 Extreme 4 and AMD FX-6100 failed by deleting what i did i never use software to overclock. I got it to 4.2GHz and i try to go further when i can afford another radiator.

i have single 120mm radiator and temps at idle are around 50 degrees celcius. But funny thing was that i did not see any massive jumps on temperatures even at 4.2GHz, at 4,3GHz my computer blue screened couple times even with 1.3V core voltage. it gave me error code whea_uncorrectable_error and with slight google searching i found out that it means too low or high core voltage

looks like you reach the limit of your CPU

see at 1.25V what speed you can get\

also make sure your RAM XMP profile is enabled

Mine wasn't the best OCer.  It got to 3.8 on the stock VCore (1.0880) but to make it to 4.2 required a 1.2500.  That was hitting the 70's on stock cooling.  When I threw the h100i on it to get to 4.6 required like 1.450.  1.460 is the upper end of the "more than likely okay"  from asus http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?48976-Overclocking-the-Pentium-G3258-%96-The-Basics

39 = 1.1300

40 = 1.1400

41 = 1.2000 <- crazy jump

42 = 1.2500 <-Wow really

Those are far from some people that were hitting 4.5 @1.30 on air.  You'll either have have to take the time to go through the steps to find the the vcore to ratio for your chip because the various for these chips are fairly high.

What are you saying? 1.275 is perfectly fine. G3258 overclocking is safe for 24/7 use under 1.35V.

strange i see some just use under 1.2 volts

Slight google searching gave me results that i have unstable PSU. So what is yours opinion on Seasonic 850W M12II-850 Evolution. 850W is required since i have 2 graphics cards waiting for better PSU, and im open to all suggestions.

Mine required 1.3V @4.2GHz. With 1.25V it had no change to make it to Windows, it was instant blue screen after loading screen where there is that big windows logo. But funny thing is that with stock voltage and water cooling temps where at 49C and after overclocking it is around like 50C to 55C and it was jump from 3.2GHz stock voltage to 4.2GHz 1.3V
