Hello, i have watched linus's videos for some time now and i thought here would be the best place to ask.

I am planning to get the AS-202TE for running in raid 1 and to watch some movies like Sintel.

Due to my little experience with nas and ups i would like to know:

1) Is there a better nas that you know of?

2) Do i need a ups so i dont lose my data during a power outage? (also i am not intreasted in online of offsite backup)

3) Could it watch Sintel locally as i have googled people having issues with streaming 1080p but i dont know if playing a local file affects it?

Thanks in advanced!

Hello kenpachizero and welcome to Linus Tech Tips forum, :)

You should be OK using that NAS for what you need it for.
I could also suggest checking out Western Digital NAS solutions and see if you would find any of them appealing: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=nKzDcd

I would take a look at WD My Cloud Mirror, WD My Cloud EX2, WD My Cloud DL2100 and WD My Cloud EX2100 as they have close features as the one that you are looking for. :)

I doubt that you would need a UPS to keep your data on the NAS safe. The data is stored on the hard drives and a power outage would only cause you to lose whatever is in the cache, not on the drives themselves. UPS would help you finish what you have started and save all temporary data still in the cache.

If this helped you, like and choose it as best answer - you might help someone else with the same issue. ^_^
