Never done a water cooled build before, but finally decided it was time to do one with my next computer upgrade.  Got the rads, pump, res, fittings, tubing, etc.  However, I won't have the actually computer hardware for probably another year.  In the meantime there was a few questions I had that I keep getting varying answers to and was hoping you guys could help me out.

The first being, is it really necessary to flush/clean out a new radiator before use?  Most say certainly, while I've heard that now of days, its not such a concern anymore.

Lastly, would flushing/cleaning it now cause any problems while the rads sit there for a year, or should I just wait until I have the rest of the components to start putting anything together?

If you do it now, you'll just have to do it again later.

Why don't you set it up now and watercool your existing PC for practice?

I would clean it, just to be extra safe. The last thing you want is to see a bunch of garbage in your loop. It shouldn't make a difference, but I would just wait :P

Fair point, so waiting it is.  Just never been the most patient person.

An even better point.  One that has me wanting to actually swap the my old hardware to the new case.  The only reason I see stopping me though is the need to get water blocks for components that I plan to replace within the year.  Money that would otherwise be spent on the new system.  I was supposed to have everything bought by now, but life happens, pushing its completion back.

I've done this in the past and modified the CPU waterblock fittings to make it work. Perhaps you could work something similar out yourself. Or just simply set it up so that it runs without actually cooling anything when your PC is on. Like a leak testing period.

I may see if I can find a decent block for cheap, might get lucky and find a good used one.  Otherwise I think I would need to spent around 150+ to get a water block for each component.  Though I may set up a loop either way to make sure everything works.  Still have yet to decide how I am going to mount the dual D5 pumps in my tower.

Any suggestions where I could find used waterblocks?
