you know whats REALLY super overkill?

32 GB DDR4 Memory 2133mhz

:I ....even 32gb of ddr3 is overkill .let alone 2133mhz.

It's called video editing.

its called it doesnt help THAT much

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWgzA2C61z4

even with 64GB of ddr3 there was no significant difference. the CPU bottlenecks the ram.

DDR4 is just bragging rights.

You realise that is low end for DDR4 right?

yes i know. the problem im having is the 4 in there. HELL. most servers havnt even upgraded to DDR4 RAM.

Yep, OK, let's hold back the entire industry. Also,

-snip-

its still very excessive regardless. when you're rendering huge and i do mean HUGE stuff like joe does. shaving off 10 mins is not going to save you much time when the video takes 17 hours to render. OH LORD..glad i got that DDR4 RAM. gonna shave off 10 mins

its a waste of money in my eyes. hell i render videos. :I not massively edited stuff like AJS and GG and such but. still. ram doesnt effect it that much. the guy said 300% basically. which for a 3 min render would make it a 1 min render. but what did he render? a simple video. i doubt it was something massive with alots of editing in it.

im not saying hold back the industry. just. thats money from the fans he's basically blowing on a slight increase in performance.

I love paying $647.34 for a case that's not an Enthoo Primo, 900D, or Caselabs. Really hope Dell gave him that thing for free. The 600-800w over wattage is also a nice touch <_<

If he went custom, had all that, maybe went with something like a define r5 and an evga 850w g2, which would be much more reasonable, it's over a $1000 in mark up cost.

Where the fuck did he find 8GB 980s? I thought the whole big deal was that 8GB 970s and 980s were never coming out?

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

I agree that Alienware isn't that great.  Mainly because of the price point for what you get.   However he explains his reasons in the video.  Agree with them or not, they are good reasons to him.   He also stated they gave him 10% or so off the price which means he didn't overpay by as much.   In the end HE is happy with it.  Angry Joe isn't a techie.  He is a game guy.

My one and only real complaint about this forum is that so many members forget that other people have different needs and wants from themselves.   In this Case Angry Joe explained that he didn't want to build the computer and that he used to work for Dell.  He has loyalty to the company because of that.  As much as I don't like Dell/Alienware, I can respect him wanting to be loyal to the company.

In the end not everyone's goal is to squeeze out the most performance per dollar possible with a computer.   For me personally it is.  For most of you it is.  But not for everyone.

Tell my tale to those who ask. Tell it truly; the ill deeds along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly.

Overkill is an understatement. The PCPP build is with a Rampage V, and a 1500w PSU is ludicrous in a PC that has Maxwell cards. You can get an SLI 980 5930k build down to sub $3000 w/out the frivolous extreme MOBO's, PSU's, and cases.

I was struggling to hit 80% of my 1000w when I had my 2 GTX 580's in there, and everything was OC'd to the wall. Hell, my original build rendition was only $2600 because I went with used GPU's, and that's including a 5960X and custom loop :x

While those may all be valid points if he was the only person it would effect, consider the scope of what he does. How many people watching his channel are going to get the Dell Hype and fork over what is a monumental sum of money? Even if you didn't want to build the PC yourself other companies will provide the same exact 24/7 warranty support in 1,2, and 3 year packages. (NCIX, Digital Storm, CyberPowerPC, etc.)

He, or anyone else buying that particular build are getting ripped off to the tune of $600-1100. So, 1 year warranty + a Pentagon case with lights =$600-1100. If you went with NCIX, Digital Storm, or another builder you are still saving a ridiculous amount. Considering his 10% discount comes in at $3824.99 he still got ripped off

NCIX:

post-115561-0-60188600-1426440937_thumb.

$802 off Dell. Tack on an extended warranty, $600 off Dell with a longer warranty.

Idiotic reasons are idiotic, no matter whose they are. It's a disservice to his viewers if he's actually suggesting they go out and get an Alienware toolbox.

Did you watch the video? He even stated that it was more expensive and he was aware of it. I seriously doubt his followers are going to go buy a dell just because he did.

Fair enough. There are enough of them out there to be sure. But chances are those guys were already going to get a cell or Alienware. When it comes down to it most people just don't care.

Let's just agree to disagree there. 4 of the 6 computers and all the tablets/phones in our house are apple. I also come from an IT background with a bit of development experience. Although I now work in a different industry.
