hi guys!

now, yesterday, i was given a brand new hdd by my school's IT guy, with windows 7 64-bit installed (my pc is in my profile, with windows vista 32-bit)

so when i go and put it in my pc instead of my other hard drive, and try to boot from it, i get one pixel of the windows 7 boot animation, then it blue screens for about half a second, and reboots, prompting me to either enter into safe mode/start normally etc, all of which options result in the same loop.

the new hdd functions perfectly as a hard drive (and all win7 files appear to be there), when in vista, the only problem occurs when trying to boot from it - which it refuses to do, at all

my question is, is there any way to get it to work, or do i need a new mobo/cpu etc?

thanks in advance :)

It bluescreens because it has completely different drivers from the main computer it came out of... That's why you generally need to reinstall windows when you switch from like AMD to Intel or vice versa.
