1440p Gpu power

Go to solution Solved by ShadyHost,

What fps were you getting with single GTX 670 and what titles were you playing?

I had 2 for about 6 months. I tried 1 card and I could max out games at 1080. It would hover around 60 and sometimes drop below. Once you drop below 60 in a shooter its really annoying.

so yeah you could do 1440p with one 670 but you would not be running at max settings.

Hi all,

I want to know from you guys if an overclocked EVGA GTX 670 FTW Sig 2(and the rest of my system) is enough to handle games at 1440p resolution at PLAYABLE frame rates, whilst KEEPING ALL THE EYE CANDY besides msaa. Benchmark wise,i get 10461 on 3dmark11(performance preset),and 2098 on Unigine Valley Benchmark. I will only be running single monitor, and probably another 24-27" 1080p monitor for web or something else while gaming.I'm holding on until Radeon 9970 is released towards the end of the year if rumours are true. My system specs are below,

I provided all the benchmarks to give you an idea of how my system performs as relative to other high-end performance systems.

Core i7-3770k@4.6ghz (9.3-9.45 cinebench)

Corsair H100i

EVGA GTX 670 FTW sig 2 oc (1306mhz core/3506Mhz,7Ghz effective)[i overclocked my gpu till it hertz,megahertz :))

16GB G.skill Ripjaws X 1866mhz

Corsair Obsidian 800D

MSI Z77 Mpower

Corsair TX 850 v2

Thanks for the help!

no.

GTX 670 is an amazing card at 1080p but with just 1 card you will struggle hardcore with next gen games. I could do 1440p with 2 670s and it was fine.

Explain again. Are you getting a 1440p monitor, or will you have one 1080p monitor for gaming, and other 1080p for browsing ?

Yes i'm getting a 1440p monitor, and 1080p for browsing. This is all for titles coming before the release of the 9970.

A single 680 can't handle high settings at that resolution (I know from experience), so neither will a 670. I think the only single cards that can handle that are the 780 and the titan. Otherwise you'll need to run SLI.

the other thing about the 670 which I have already run into on 1200p is the 2gb of memory.

also for browsing i would recommend getting a 1200p and putting it in portrait. Its  takes a little adjustment but once your used to it you wont want to go back.

Is that attributable to the memory bottleneck?
