It has folk who know why we have 24 fps for TV/movies and explains in detail why no sound video in the old days was 16fps.

Did you see the Hobbit? Nope. That tragedy showed me that films are 24 or bust.

60 fps for games
24 for films

Because it's not 60fps, it's 30 encoded as 60.

Most of channel super fun videos are 60 bud... aif you are refering to the one video linus said was 30 and encoded as 60.. I have seen it and it does not look at all like it is 60fps.

I think all new videos on that channel are true 60fps. Only that one was 30.

Yes there are many reasons why they still use 24fps which have been stated in that forum.

Although most of the information we have on how the brain and eye captures motion are just theories (to my knowledge) and it's still rather a mystery.

 

Our eyes can 'see' frame rates faster than 24fps, and our brain can also 'perceive' the difference.

With the technology to blur faster moving frames, it can 'trick' our brains into thinking it's a more fluid motion.

And with animators needing to add CGI into the movie and thoroughly check each frame, having a higher fps will increase the time and money needed.

 

Having 60hz content on TVs would be too much bandwidth to stream over the air (especially at 1080i) so I don't think that will change any time soon.
