Hello everyone smile.gif

I've had this issue for a while now but i've only come to make a thread on it.

(I have this issue even when only my pc is on and no other devices are connected)

My ping is always going up and down and when I mean up it goes from 80 to 300.
In games I would get on at 100 ping and it would stay there for a few seconds then slowly go up to 300 and then back down to 100...

I'm not sure what to do as i've contacted the ISP about a download issue and when they fixed it they didn't fix the ping I guess...

EDIT: I'm on cable btw

Is there any way to find out what's causing it?

Maybe its the servers. Or the signals you're getting at your area... I get disruptions like 3 times a week and i pay for this shit they call internet.

If you wanna know whats using most of your speeds use NetLimiter

Spain

What isp do you have?

Some are known globally to throttle people, and have just generally really shitty internet. Although most of that tends to take place in the US, it's not uncommon for it in other places as well.

Telefonica, it wasn't this bad before but now it's just ridiculous... I just did a pingtest and got a result of 400 to a server in Spain

Thats strange, from what I know at least they tend to be pretty good. It could be an issue with one of their stations, are you in a city or out in the country?

How often do you reset your router/modems? If I do not reset them every two weeks I get ping problems. Also, things like 3G range extenders can raise ping in my expierience

Do you have the ability to test ping with another computer? If you do try that just to get a reference if that is doing the same thing then it is ether a router problem or an isp problem.

what you can try to do is do a tracert to a website which will show you each connection point(Hop) that the link is taking and will show ping times, for example

if the first few hops are good and low and then later ones are higher its probably something inside the isp or the isp's provider you can try to give them this info to help them find the problem

With cable there can be many issues, To much ingress/noise on the lines too many people connected that they didn't plan for, water getting into the coax main lines, weak modem TX and RX power levels bad snr(signal to noise)

Note I'm at work and have fiber connection don't worry if they are not as low as mine.
