Need budget, and what you are going to use it for.  Also if you want overclock at all.  First glance, i7 is overkill.

Don't get the 960 unless you want to save electricity.

Get more RAM. 8GB total minimum. And change the i7 to a 4790k. Incase you ever want to overclock

I suggest an i7-4690k, EVGA GTX 970, and at least 8gb ram is a MUST for a content creation/gaming build. You could always pick up a 500gb HDD and get an SSD later. i7-4790 will NEVER reach its full potential with 4gb ram and a 960

Upgrade the i7 to the 4790k, get more ram, get a more powerful or less powerful geforce card that is priced at a good value, not the 960 which is a poor value. Also choose an operating system unless you're planning on hackintoshing it.

Did it support Nvidia 3D vision? I like to try stereoscopic gaming. :)

No but it does support HD3D, same thing but by AMD. You'll still need a 3D capable screen of course.

Here is a fairly old video about it where Linus explains what it is:

I do however think 3D will only be a headache and probably quite literally so.

Isn't the GTX 960 good for performance/$? It's not the most powerful, but it costs a helluva lot less than the most powerful.

i see you have not included any cooler for the cpu, might wanna consider getting one, since any cooler is better than stock intel. They are just so damn loud.

This

- The xeon is a i7 without integrated graphics for a much lower price.

- No point in z87/z97 board if the CPU cant even overclock.

- GTX970: more powerrrrrrrr

- HX powersupply is not worth it (esp at this budget)

- 4GB RAM is way too low. 8GB is recommended for gaming and 16GB for video editing.

Desktop: Intel i9-10850K (R9 3900X died 😢 )| MSI Z490 Tomahawk | RTX 2080 (borrowed from work) - MSI GTX 1080 | 64GB 3600MHz CL16 memory | Corsair H100i (NF-F12 fans) | Samsung 970 EVO 512GB | Intel 665p 2TB | Samsung 830 256GB| 3TB HDD | Corsair 450D | Corsair RM550x | MG279Q

Laptop: Surface Pro 7 (i5, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD)

Console: PlayStation 4 Pro

Well, ASUS is higher on the benchmarks than the EVGA ;) Also, it has better heatpipes and better temps :) smaller too.

This is a moot point.  Unless OP has a Shield, or need Cuda cores for 3d modeling, the 960 is always the wrong choice.  The 960 is the wrong choice here simply because his budget allows for a 970.
