1. Budget & Location

I'm from Spain so we are talking in Euros (currently 1€-1.29 $), fortunately i do not have a very limited budget right now, but i want to stick to my needs and don't pay more for an extra that i won't use  ;) .

2. Aim

The system is going to be used for:

35% Gaming

20% Programming

5-10% Virtualization work (heavy some times.)

X% Music, Movies, Etc...

3. Monitors

Planing on buy 2 or maybe 3 monitors for the new build. (More details later.)

4. Peripherals

I do not need anything new here.

5. Why are you upgrading?
Need something that fit with my needs.

Current hardware

Case          Fractal desing define XL R2

OS              Windows 8 pro x64

CPU            Intel Core i5 750

RAM           8GB 4 modules (kingston, nothing special)

MOBO        Asus P7P55D

GPU            Gigabyte GeForce GTX 550 Ti

Monitor/s   Random montior

PSU             Random PSU

Storage      SDD Samsung SSD 840 PRO 256GB for games, apps, virtual machines and OS.

HDD WD Red 3TB (And another 1TB WD green)

What's my idea of the new build

Case          Fractal desing define XL R2

OS              Windows 8 pro x64

CPU            Intel Core i7-4770

RAM           Suggest me anything

MOBO        Asus Z87 Pro

GPU            GTX 770

Monitor/s   Benq XL2411T

PSU             Suggest me anything, thinking on a seasonic.

Storage      Nothing changes

Additional info

CPU

i heard the non K model its better for virtualization task, and i am not planing an OC anytime soon. (Correct me if i'm wrong)

Link

Monitors:

I'm thinking on the Benq xl2411T, Asus VG248QE or the Eizo Foris FS2333.

95% sure that i will get 2 Benq and maybe in the future a 3rd one.

I want multiple monitors more for multitasking rather than surround gaming.

MOBO

I think that's enough for my needs.

GPU

i've read everything this days, a lot of hours reading about gpu's, and i think gtx 770 is the best one that fits my needs, not planing on surround gaming.

I play a lot, but i do' not want to max crysis 3 or the last videogame that comes out.

PSU & RAM

i will trust every word you tell me here, i'm ignorant in this area.

Misc

Planing on streaming while playing LOL or record it with fraps or similar software.

I hope you can help me making a wise decision. Thank you.

Apologize for my English, hope everything makes sense.

VG248QE is an excellent monitor just got mine a few days ago but the one thing you might want to do is get a monitor calibration kit and use it because the colors are a bit strange with this panel.

Response time and 144hz refresh rate is epic though.

Spend the extra money and get the K series. the price difference isn't that great and even a slight overclock might make a difference.

I picked up 2 kits of 16GB corsair vengeance 1600 for cheap ($100 on amazon) I know you are in spain so that might not be an option. find some super cheap sale ram from a reputable brand.

About the CPU. It's not only because of the price difference, as i said in the post the non K model have some features that the K model don't have that should help in a virtualization environment. So it's cheaper and better for my needs (if what I've heard is correct).

About the RAM. I will check it.

Thank you.

I see. You could always get the K version and disable hyperthreading (im assuming that is that problem)

I would just recommend the K version even if someone doesn't need the extra power because of the option to get more for your money with a minuscule price difference.

BUT, if the non k version actually has a large impact on the speed of the kind of work you do, by all means get the non k version. I just can't imagine the non k version being better in any way.

CPU: You're correct, the 4770k lacks virtualization support so if you're going to be doing vir. work, you're much better off with the regular 4770 (silly intel)

MOBO: The Pro is good but the MSI z87-G45 has a lot of features for slightly cheaper. It's one REALLY good board. Also, the ASRock z87 Extreme 4 and Extreme 6 have a POST/DEBUG LED which is a life saver when something doesn't work in your system. It makes it a lot easier to diagnose.

GPU: Yes, that's probably your best choice

PSU: Seasonic is a really good brand of power supplies. Very Reliable. You can also take a look at XFX and Corsair PSUs since they are very good brands as well. Basically, look at the user reviews when purchasing and make sure the reviews are leaning on the 4-5 stars. 600W should be more than enough for your needs so you can look around this wattage.

RAM: Since you,re doing vir. and programming, fast RAM and lots of it is a must. Given that RAM is fairly cheap nowadays, I'd say, look for a 8 or 16GB 1866MHz kit from a reliable brand.

Hope this helps!

G.skill memory is a good bang for the buck, you should consider 2 sticks of 4 GB each, it will cost around 60 euros

G.Skill has indeed good bang for the buck but I've had problems in the past with those sticks (and according to customer reviews, I'm not the only one). Problems which I've never had with Patriot, Corsair or Mushkin RAM

That's what I've heard. I will think about the K version anyways.

Thank you.

MOBO

The MSI mobo you mentioned and the pro, here in Spain there is actually like 25€ ~30$ difference (158€ the msi, 183€ the asus) is still worth going for the msi?

GPU

OK i'm sure that I'm getting the GTX 770 but not sure about the manufacturer:

What do you think is the best for me? (thinking about the 3 monitors too. I've heard that 4GB is better for this.)

PSU

I will read now about PSU's and check the prices here in Spain.

Thank you. ;)

Running games on multiple monitors uses up a ton of VRAM. But if you are strictly doing work on this machine you will probably not need the extra memory. Running 3 monitors idle at the desktop barely eats up 300mb on my 780

RAM

Price range? to know what to look for.

Thank all of you.
