I used the HD558's for a couple of days before returningthem (kinda want them again) but I never used a microphone with them. I used to use my AD700 which are open headphones and the audio leak never picked up from a microphone. It depends on how sensitive the microphone is I guess. You could pick up a modmic for about $40 and "clip" that on your hd600.

I personally like my Blue Yeti (except for it picking up my keyboard smacking) but it was $90.

I use a pair of HD650's as my daily headphones, I have the Zalman clipmic as a microphone. I really cant notice any echo, when the headphones are at normal volumes. My friends haven't complained about any echo either,  I would say that it is safe to use any kind of microphone even with such a open back desing.

I have a ModMic attached to my HD 650s and I love the setup. No echoing in teamspeak/skype except from my friend with a pair of Turtle (eek) Beach's. You shouldn't be listening at volumes so loud the sound travels far with headphones like these. ;)

Not just those headphones, any headphones!
