my new builds storage will consist of:

- either 2 x 128gb Samsung 840 pro (raid 0) or 1 x 256gb Samsung 840 pro (for general windows applications), whats the better choice?

- 1 x seagate barracuda 2tb + 1 x 128gb Samsung 830 (for games)

- 2 x seagate barracuda 3tb (raid 0) (for local network storage, movies music ect.)

Do i have the right idea with all my drives or would you suggest setting it up differently?

Well the best way to do it is SSD + HDD, so you get the best of both worlds. If already that is stressing your budget I wouldn't really recommend a raid config. Can you do like 256gb samsung 840 + 1tb seagate barracuda?

I would take 2 SSD's then Raid0 them, personally stay away from Samsung 840 line write speeds are horrendous... That is for the OS

For games, I use a 1TB hdd and that is fine for me, so I will say for games just get a 1TB hard drive, you can use it for other stuff aswell,

For the Network storage you have a good start, If you don't want redundancy then that is fine, speed will be nice aswell,

Hope I helped
