Alllllrighty, this is a build I plan to take me maybe 4 months, starting in February, since I can only put about $800/month into it at once. If the thread dies, I'll revive it to start the build log here. These are my parts that I'm fairly set on, but I'm happy to take suggestions, since I'm still one month away from ordering my first part. The only thing I won't compromise on is I have to have a 7970 (Unless 8970 is released before I buy my card), because I have to have Eyefinity/3 monitors on a single card and the voltage has to be unlocked (The options are dwindling), as well as the TJ07 case. It's expensive, but it's awesome.

I will likely sit on my money at first and snipe sales as they happen to try to maximize my dollar, getting the motherboard and video card last.

Anyway, take a look and feel free to bash. It's a living document, so I can change it to incorporate suggestions I like.

Looks good' date=' what will the main purpose of the rig be?[/quote']

I'm a big RTS player and I love the Total War series (Which can be exceptionally demanding, more for calculating all the crap going on, rather than rendering it) and others, but I work for a game server provider, so I need to also be able to run FPSs, etc, decently to be able to connect to the game servers in order to tell the client they forgot to turn the server on.

You've got an awesome deal for the 3770K! Here were I live is about 300€!!! But i don't think you need 3 radiator for just this cpu and a single card... save 70$ and put them in another SSD or in a raid configuration for yours HHD, by the way I don't understand why you have chosen 2 500GB hard disk... for just few more dollars you can buy 1 TB hard disk...

For the GPU great choice! I wish I have enough money for buying one of this too

A couple of reasons for these. I'm only using 500GB total storage as it is and I intend to build a small file server, so it's not really necessary, though, I plan on putting the two 500GB drives in a RAID 0. With the radiators, I might go dual GPU in the future and everything will just be in place. It'll be trivial to add another card to the loop. I'm also cooling the motherboard. Also, I live in a place that easily reaches 100F/43C in the summer and anything I can do to mitigate that (Because I can't have the AC set to 65F all the time) is helpful.

Ok, good choice going with the 3770k in that case; i hear Total War abuses CPU quite a bit. Also gives you headroom for editing and the like. As for the FP58, i don't see any reason why you couldn't fit it, it would also look great and clean. :)
