Friends Pc Random Black Screen

My friends pc randomly gets a black screen when on windows. When it happens his music glitches out and windows stops, but his computer is still on. Any solutions? UPDATE: When he turned on his computer, it did it straight away. I suggested that me makes sure everything is plugged in correctly so he's doing that now.

Is it load related, or will it happen even when idle?

It randomly happened while he was doing stuff. He just turned on his computer now and it did it during boot. I suggested that he made sure everything is plugged in correctly. He had a similar problem awhile ago, his fans weren't spinning because his main motherboard connector wasn't plugged in all the way.
