hey guys,

so i am planning to extend my ethernet connection to my own room. because i have a smart tv i need a switch to split it up for my pc.

Also the Wifi network is al little bit crappy so i want a access point to, i have heard that there are access points with switches in them.

I have a maximum budget of 100 euros. does someone know a good access point/ Switch?

My suggestion is to just buy a router. You can get something that supports Wireless AC for 75 euros.

Just any gigabit switch off the internet is fine it doesnt have to be expensive, the 5 port ones from netgear are ok.

Then a wireless access point thats either 802.N or AC  Someone will recomend a good wireless access point for you.

No. this will cause more problems than its worth in the long run.

Almost any WiFi router can act as a switch and an access point. All you need to do is disable DHCP, Firewall and set the Local IP to the same subnet as your home network. Then plug in the ethernet cable into one of the LAN ports instead of WAN. And viola you got your self an Access Point + Switch.

This is the setup I have at home and it has worked without problems for over a year. There is even a second switch connected to the second router. I have found that the quality of the primary router matters most.

Roaming between the two AP works without problems as well.
