PC LOCKING UP...HELP

Hey guys I built my PC about a year and a half ago and everything has been perfect, although it has been locking up right from the beginning. By locking up I literally mean that the PC does not respond to anything:

Sounds stops

Screen Frozen

keyboard isn't registering (caps lock doesn't light up)

 

My only choice is to reset the PC via the reset switch, now I have a very good feeling that this is a BIOS related issue with my motherboard (possibly faulty BIOS) but updating the BIOS is pretty risky so I don't want to risk it if its unnecessary.

 

Specs:

650W (more than enough)

Asus m5197 MOBO

HIS Radeon 7770 GPU

AMD FX-6300 CPU

8 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 Ram

 

 

All case fans along with GPU and CPU heatsink fans continue spinning when this happens.

What exactly are you doing when this lockup occurs?

All drivers are up to date, although there are new bios updates

I can't really point my finger on it... I haven't noticed a pattern its super random

If all drivers are up to date start to try and replicate the error. 

 

Also look at the event viewer for some advice.

Same thing is happening to me, but it only started happening today every couple hours or so. The first time it happened I got a blue screen too.

I never get a blue screen, just immediately locks up...luckily it isn't too often
