I am planning on purchasing a case which has 1xUSB 3.0 and 1xUSB 2.0 port on chassi,

plus I intend to transfer over my 2xUSB 3.0 panel to the new case.

The problem though, is that I have only 1 USB 3.0 motherboard connector.

1 x USB 3.0 header (supports 2 USB 3.0 ports) (Etron EJ168A)

And the front panel (image) takes it.

So basically the chassis 3.0 port would have to be unconnected. But I really don't wan't useless ports on my machine.

I have considered plugging it shut with an USB cover, but I'd rather have it working to some degree.

And I need a minimum of 4 ports in front, of which 2 need to be 3.0

TLDR;

So basically my question is... is it possible to make a single usb 3.0 port run on usb 2.0 header, meaning it would work like an USB 2.0 port?

Why repost? I just answered you're original post, you just need to wait.

EDIT: Another thing you could do is just buy a case with 2xUSB 2.0 and 2xUSB 3.0 ports, like the Corsair Graphite 760t.

Intel i7 4790k | Corsair H110i GTX | MSI Z97S Krait | 16GB HyperX Fury | ASUS Strix GTX 970 | Samsung 850 EVO 120GB SSD | Seagate 1TB Hybrid SSHD | WD 3TB Green | Corsair TX750M |

Corsair Graphite 760t White | 3x AOC i2267Fwh 21.5 inch IPS Monitor 1080p | Corsair Raptor k50 RGB | Logitech G500 | Blue Snowball
