h220-x question.

Go to solution Solved by Scouten,

the rad and res are one whole unit

you can remove the pump and use it by itself

i would recommend scrapping the idea of expanding on it and just get a cpu block, a D5 or DDC res combo, some size rad and some tubing it will be FAR easier to work around than expanding the H220-x Speaking from experience

Or 320-x, or 240-x, etc. The pump and res are attached to the radiator to get around asetek patents. Ok, I get that. I've seen teardown videos where the pump is removed from the radiator for inspection. Here's my question: Can you remove the pump and the res from the radiator, but the extra fittings needed (I know I need an adapter for at least one of the pump outputs that *should* come with the kit), and move the pump elsewhere in my case, or is there some mechanical witchcraft that makes the unit un-usable if the radiator and pump aren't mounted in their designed spots?

*nod* We learn because we ask. I don't really care for a lot of my airflow being blocked by a res/pump combo but I love that I get so many good parts for a low price. The more research I do, the more it looks like a custom loop is really the best option.
