android recovery problem

hello ltt forum members im having a problem with my asus tf300t tablet. i come across a tutorial to install android 5 on it and i got to the part where i needed to go in to recovery mode and all im getting is a green dead android guy with a red triangle over it and error! at the bottom, so i was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this and the tablet boots normally just gives me the error when trying to enter recovery

This is the default Android recovery which means you have not flashed a custom recovery yet. Boot into fastboot then 

fastboot flash recovery recoveryfilename.img

ok i have a few questions, why do i need a custom recovery its still running its stock android and what is fast boot and how do i boot in to it

ok i just re read the article and followed it so i just finished rooting it and downloaded quick boot and i just booted in to recovery from there and the error is still there
