Boot Priority

Go to solution Solved by Bonesy,

Heh, I'm willing to bet that you must first select the HDD, then you will see the SSD as the #2 boot option. Some BIOS will group all "disks" together, and only show the #1 boot disk until you go into it.

P.S. - I have done it before also, so don't feel bad, lol

Minor problem with cloned OS drive not showing in boot priority.

I cloned my boot drive to a larger SSD. Initially it wouldn't boot without me having to select it on startup (F8) but after 20 minutes of the system running now it does.
The boot priority list is:
Optical Drive >>. HDD.  Nothing else shows.
The drive shows in the bios load screen and in windows but not in my boot priority list within the bios.
Have any of you come across this problem and know how to fix it. Though my system is working I would like to know how to fix this glitch.

Specs for the system are in signature. New SSD is 850EVO 500GB.

Honestly I feel like I'm having a retarded blonde moment and am missing something really simple

That was it. I just had to go into advanced mode and select it from in there. Stupid ezymode not being easy.

Thanks heaps for helping me with my blonde moment.

I knew it wasn't as hard to fix as some of the Googled suggestions made it seem

I'm positive that the suggested fix of unplugging all the drives and only plugging in the SSD would have worked but it would have been like killing a rat with buckshot

Yep. Also, some BIOS prefer HDD's as default boot devices. So after you plugged HDD back in, it would have resorted to 1st boot, and you'd be right back where you started. Anyways, always nice when it's easy fix, have fun with new SSD :)
