Using RAID card as boot SATA

Hello, just wondering is it advisable to use a raid card with sata 6gbps for my boot ssd. Currently using an old motherboard m4a785td v-evo from asus, it does not have any sata 6gbps port and my ssd does not feel that fast anymore. Or is it possible to do something else?

if your card is PCI then it will be slower than onboard sata controller

 

as for booting you card must have the boot option, and motherboard need to be able boot from it (it shows the option from booting selection drive)
