If you you put your sticks of ram in and your pc doesn't boot and power cycles on and off does it mean the ram is not good?Also it doesn't post

Pull out the power supply(and unplug everything from the computer) and jump it. If you don't know how, I can tell you how to do it.

why do I need to do this for ram?

works fine with old ram but doesnt work with that i bought for $30 on CL

Then it's possible that the new RAM is bad.

 

Go into the BIOS and reset memory settings to the default, then try the new RAM again.

Put in your working RAM, boot into your BIOS, look at the packaging or website and find the specs of your new RAM.

Set all the appropriate settings like voltages and timings etc then save, when your PC restarts turn it off. Swap out the RAM and the currently non working RAM should work. If not, I would say its the RAM itself.

I was going to try that but if I save the settings It will boot up I don't want to fry my ram that doesn't OC

I was going to try that but if I save the settings It will boot up I don't want to fry my ram that doesn't OC

what if i just hold that power button after it save the settings in the bios.
